Business Review

An independent review before a high-stakes founder decision.

Send us the financial and operating information you already use. We independently review the business and tell you what has changed, what the numbers imply, which assumptions may no longer hold, and what deserves your attention.

Baseline Review

$3,500 fixed fee

Scope

One company · one review

Commitment

No retainer required

The question is not whether you have enough reporting.

Most growing companies already have financials, KPIs, functional reports, forecasts, and management updates. The harder problem is interpreting what they mean together — especially when the founder is about to make a consequential decision.

A Baseline Review provides an independent cross-business read of the information you already use: what materially changed, where the numbers or explanations diverge, which assumptions remain supported, and what deserves attention before the decision.

When it is useful

A review is most valuable when something important is about to change.

The product stays the same. The trigger is the decision or material change that makes an outside read useful now.

Planning

Before annual or strategic planning

Revisit the operating assumptions behind the plan before carrying them into the next period.

Capital

Before a major hiring or capital commitment

Check whether the business underneath the decision is strengthening, weakening, or sending mixed signals.

Performance

After a quarter diverges from the plan

Separate temporary variance from a more meaningful change in the business.

Mixed signals

When the numbers tell different stories

Read growth, retention, margins, cash, productivity, and execution together rather than in isolation.

Change

Before a major operating change

Pressure-test the current business before changing pricing, GTM, organization, or another core operating choice.

Capital event

Before fundraising or another consequential capital decision

Get an independent read on the company before external capital changes the stakes.

What you get

A concise whole-business assessment.

Not another dashboard. The output is a short, independent interpretation designed for the founder.

01

Material changes

Changes significant enough to alter the interpretation of performance, operating conditions, priorities, or risk.

02

Performance interpretation

What the current financial and operating evidence means when viewed together.

03

Key assumptions

Which assumptions remain supported, appear to be weakening, or cannot yet be confirmed?

04

Emerging risks

Dependencies, contradictions, and unresolved questions that may become more important.

05

Decision points

Issues that deserve a decision, deliberate discussion, or explicit monitoring.

06

What to watch next

A short set of indicators, assumptions, or events to revisit after the review.

Inputs

Use the information you already have.

We do not require a consulting deck or a special data package. The review is built primarily from the financial and operating information you already use to run the company.

  • Recent financial statements or management financials
  • Current KPI and operating reporting
  • Relevant historical data and prior-period comparisons
  • Revenue, retention, pipeline, cash, headcount, margin, or other metrics when relevant
  • A short explanation of the current decision, change, or concern

How it works

Fixed scope. Three steps.

The goal is to get to an independent read without turning the first engagement into a consulting project.

Step 1

Establish the baseline

We review the company information, current context, and the decision or material change that prompted the review.

Step 2

Independent review

We compare the evidence, identify material changes and contradictions, test assumptions, and produce a concise written assessment.

Step 3

Founder discussion

We review the conclusions, clarify context, test interpretation, and identify what deserves attention next.

If useful

Continue monthly.

The Baseline Review is complete on its own. If the outside perspective proves useful, the same process can continue as a monthly Independent Business Performance Review.

$3,000 per month after the Baseline Review.

Each monthly review is read against the baseline, the previous period, current priorities, and material changes across the business. The objective is continuity of interpretation — not more reporting.

Fit

Built for a specific management situation.

Company size is a guide, not the core qualification. The real trigger is complexity plus a decision that matters.

Good fit

Founder-led growing company

An established business with enough operating complexity that no single functional report explains the whole picture.

Good fit

Usable operating information

The company already has financial and operating data. The need is interpretation, not a basic reporting setup.

Good fit

A consequential decision or material change

There is a real reason to get an outside read now — not a generic desire for more advice.

If useful

We analyze the business. We do not run it.

Woldmark does not manage the people, projects, vendors, forecasts, or reporting being reviewed. The role is independent analysis and interpretation rather than implementation.

It is not bookkeeping, accounting assurance, fractional CFO work, executive coaching, turnaround execution, legal or tax advice, or regulated investment advice.

The review relies primarily on client-provided information and does not certify its completeness or accuracy.

If useful

One company. One independent review.
